About Me

Anne Fioravanti
M.Ed.
I am a licensed teacher based in New York who is passionate about literacy and helping students achieve their greatest potential in reading. With four years of full-time teaching experience, a masters degree in both childhood and special education, and 70-hour coursework in the Orton-Gillingham approach to literacy instruction, I provide
high-quality, individualized literacy instruction to learners in grades K-3. When I am not working with students, I can be found crafting, cooking a delicious meal for friends and family, or enjoying a good novel. I am looking forward to getting to know your learner and starting a literacy journey together!
My Philosophy
I believe that learning should be a joyful experience for all. For students who have difficulty with literacy skills, reading often becomes a chore that they dread doing at home and school each day. For these students, who may need a bit more support, it is important to take a different approach to reading instruction. This is where the Orton-Gillingham approach comes in. The Orton-Gillingham approach focuses on explicit and multi-sensory instruction, designed specifically for each individual learner. This approach has proven to be more effective for students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties. I believe that, when delivered in this accessible and personalized way, reading instruction can be fun, empowering, and, most importantly, effective!
